The WCC is excited to partner with intercultural educator & consultant Erika G. Bertling for this series of six workshops on racially conscious communication and parenting. This practical, interactive series will give immediately useful tools and strategies for intergenerational communication and education around the topics of race and cultural difference.

Although the series has been originally developed with WCC parents in mind, we highly recommend it to anyone who regularly interacts with or instructs young people as well as anyone who wants to be a better ally. The focus of this seminar series is to learn to talk to ourselves and our kids about race. Participants will learn about both internal and external barriers to discussing race as well as develop tools and practices to overcome those barriers.

Members are welcome to invite partners to attend this series as well. Lectures of topic overviews will be recorded and distributed to registered participants to review or watch if they have to miss a session. Discussions will not be recorded to encourage transparency. These are interactive sessions. Although it is recommended you attend all of them, you are welcome to attend as many as you can. Please indicate in the form below which sessions you plan to attend (you can always change your mind later!). We will use this information for planning purposes and to send out additional content related to the individual sessions. August 10: Guided discussion through a selection of anti-racist readings

Each session is scheduled for a duration of 1.5 hours. Please note that all times are EDT.
