Join the WCC for our August Reading Group, with a discussion led by intercultural educator & consultant Erika G. Bertling. We are providing three short, thought-provoking anti-racist readings with guided reflections: 1. Introduction to Lead from the Outside by Stacey Abrams: Learn about the interlocking 4 “I”s of systems of oppression and how to challenge them from Abrams’ own life. 2. "Three-Eyed People" by Robin DiAngelo and Özlem Sensoy: A curiosity-provoking exercise to think experientially about multiple levels of privilege and oppression through a first-person, conceptual lens. 3. "A Talk to Teachers" by James Baldwin: Learn what the influential Black author and thinker had to say directly to educators. Click here for access to the reading materials and a list of reflection questions. Come having read the selections, with your thoughts and questions, to join a facilitated discussion. This reading group is part of WCC's ongoing Social Justice Series "WCC Race-Conscious Communication & Parenting," which has been running throughout the summer. However, it is a stand-alone event open to all members, so please join us even if you have been unable to participate in previous sessions.
