In Negotiating a Job Offer, we tackle your questions about what to do after you have an offer: what are reasonable asks in response to an offer, the difference between hard and soft money, and how much time you have to make a decision. 

Topics include:

• When should you negotiate and with whom
• What can you negotiate apart from salary
• How to approach tricky issues, like chronic illness or trailing partners
• How gender and/or race can impact negotiations
• How to navigate negotiations and the hiring committee
• What a VAP might be able to ask for
• Differences between types of institutions and departments
• Common pitfalls and things to avoid

The format for this workshop will be a roundtable discussion with the panelists led by the organizers, followed by an open discussion for participants to ask questions and share tips about negotiating.
